Domino’s case thrown out by New York Supreme Court

Jan 08 2021

If you’re facing fraud charges, it’s very important to take steps to defend yourself. Those charges could lead to serious penalties, time in prison, high fines and more.

A good defense can make a difference and may result in your case being dismissed. For example, a judge in New York has thrown out the New York Attorney General’s office’s case against Domino’s Pizza. The AG had accused the company of defrauding franchisees. They claimed that the franchisees were directed to use software to calculate their earnings that miscalculated workers’ wages.

The New York Supreme Court did not agree

Interestingly, the New York Supreme Court didn’t agree with that assessment. The court justice stated that the company couldn’t be held liable for non-compliance related to what workers were paid by franchisees. The company, therefore, didn’t commit fraud when it continued to allow franchisees to use the same software that was being described.

Cases like this one are a good example of how a defense can help. Showing that you aren’t responsible for wage theft or fraud related to a franchisee’s payment methods could help protect you and your business if you find yourself in that same situation.

Fraud is a serious charge, but you can fight back

Whether you’re charged with fraud or another criminal act, it’s important that you have a defense that can help you fight back. While there may be serious accusations against you, you have the right to fight those claims and show why you are not at fault or have not broken the law. A good defense may even help you get the case dismissed.
